Nuclear Rockets: Nuclear rockets currently are being explored by NASA. These thrusters could significantly cut down the travel time between planets. They will utilize superheated gases to push spacecraft to amazing velocities. Another proposal suggests that we use stock piles of nuclear weapons. Imagine a ship with a huge shock absorber at its rear. Bombs are dropped out of the back and exploded. The resulting shockwaves push the ship faster and faster. Perhaps this is a way to end the arms race and rid the Earth of a significant threat.
